30/70, the collective behind our Album of the Week, is a bit like a rambunctious share-house that also happens to produce incredible jazz/funk/neo-soul music; it’s ever-changing, hard to pin down, and filled with love and creativity.
Some very excellent news, people: Kick Like a Girl host Kate O’Halloran has won a VicHealth award in recognition of her work increasing visibility and equity for women in sport. Congrats, Kate!
We were saddened to learn last week that two former Triple R broadcasters, Alan Bamford and Martin Armiger, both passed away. Alan and Martin made significant contributions not only to the station, but also to the broader music community.
It was meticulous work. For the final song, they found a recording of Cohen reading the poem and carefully edited out the background noise to render his haunting baritone like it was recorded in a studio, cushioned by delicate piano.
Triple R is once again a drop-off point for the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency’s Christmas Gift Appeal. Swing by the station to donate pressies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids in care.
Last night Music Victoria celebrated its 2019 awards. The event, proudly presented by Triple R and our mates at PBS, featured a tonne of awesome winners from across the state. Check them out and/or watch the video!
