Window Seat: Obongjayar’s 2024, One Groove at a Time
Obongjayar joins Sosefina on Window Seat to reflect on his whirlwind 2024 that “already feels like it’s over as soon as it started.”
Known for his vibrant, rhythm-soaked sound, the Nigerian-born, London-based artist has been embracing spontaneity: “Not overthinking in a lot of cases,” he says, while staying rooted in heart and vibe.
One of his standout projects this year has been Paradise Now, an intimate artist series and physical space for creativity, collaboration, and connection.
Held at Ormside Projects in London, the series invites musicians, friends, and fans to come together for open jams and dynamic performances. “It’s been incredibly rewarding and fun,” he says, emphasising how the sessions have strengthened his connection to his audience while fostering a unique sense of community.
His music, drenched in rhythm and soul, mirrors the energy of these gatherings, where improvisation and raw emotion take center stage. “The core of it is to have something to say and to be able to translate that and share it with an audience that can hear it,” he explains.
