Twang: Cash, Redemption and Wagons’ New Album
Henry Wagons sits down with Denise Hylands to chat about his new album, upcoming tours, and the four-night show CASH: A Journey Through The American Recordings. Henry’s brand-new album, The Four Seasons, is described as a cosmic, rich, smushy Sunday-afternoon-record that continues to pay homage to his deep love of country music, a passion sparked by Johnny Cash’s American Recordings.
In a full-circle moment, Henry, alongside the Tennessee Studs, will perform a rendition of Cash’s American Recordings over four nights at the Athenaeum Theatre. Henry reflects on the album’s profound weight in country music history, crediting the importance of Rick Rubin for steering Cash to the shores of safety with this transformative record.
“With history comes baggage. He was a sinner, an outlaw, and eventually, he lost his compass. We want him as a sinner, in his eternal chase for redemption.”
With members of the Tennessee Studs, Henry also performs iconic Cash tracks like ‘Hurt’ and ‘Delia’s Gone’ live in studios.
