Queer View Mirror: Dr Leigh Boucher on Gender, Sexuality, and Citizenship in Australia

Dr Leigh Boucher is a historian from Macquarie University, and he joins Gemma, Sam, and Hamish to discuss his new (co-authored) book Personal Politics: Sexuality, Gender, and the Remaking of Citizenship in Australia. Touching on various campaigns, movements, and pivotal moments in Australian queer/feminist history, the book explores the impact that gender and sexuality activism has had on our national debate and on 'citizenship' in Australia. It also traces the history of "making politics" through a gender, sexuality, feminist, and queer lens, and in turn challenges dominant paradigms of storytelling and history-making.

The book is co-authored with Barbara Baird, Michelle Arrow, and Robert Reynolds, and is out now with Monash University Publishing.
