Queer View Mirror: Hasib Hourani on Palestinian Resistance in New Poetry Collection 'rock flight'
Hasib Hourani is an award-winning Palestinian-Lebanese writer, editor, arts worker, and educator based on Wangal Country. He joins Gemma, Hamish, and Sam to talk about his debut poetry collection, rock flight, which began in early 2020 "as one poem that kept sprawling" – and is a testament to the longevity and ongoing struggle of Palestinian resistance long before October 7, 2023. The collection is a powerful allegory to Palestine's occupation, subjugation, and the refusal to lose hope. Hasib also reads a poem from rock flight, about a boycott movement that began in Oakland in 2010.
rock flight is out now through Giramondo Publishing.
