Acclaimed UK saxophonist Nubya Garcia joined Vaughan Quinn on Double Bounce ahead of her much-anticipated performance at the Melbourne Jazz Festival.

Garcia, renowned for her dynamic and exploratory approach to jazz, is in town to promote her new album Odyssey, her first full studio release since her breakthrough 2020 LP Source. Written and finished during her time in Brazil, Odyssey reflects Garcia’s deep connection to the meditative and cinematic nature of her surroundings.

Odyssey captures the extremes, balancing calm, reflective moments with high-energy intensity. Garcia blends a wide array of instruments and textures to evoke these contrasts. She explains: "I wanted this album to demonstrate the real extremities of the calmer moments and the high-energy moments and everything in between."
