Radio Marinara
Listen to Radio Marinara – 1 December 202401:00:001 December 2024

Kade and Anth will be paddling the marinara canoe on Sunday.

Rex Hunter will be in to talk about a Life Aquatic in Sunshine in the early 1970s - How did a land-bound teenager get a maritime fix in the suburb of Sunshine in the 1970s? From making and sailing a boat made from the roof of an FJ Holden, to catching a train to Williamstown in the middle of winter, complete with speargun, to diving the cool waters of Hobsons Bay. Rex will take the listeners along on his journey where he explored the Western Suburbs' fresh and saltwaters, over 50 years ago.

Dr Ana Manero, Research Fellow in the Water Justice Hub at the Crawford School of Public Policy at ANU will join us to talk about her research on the economic and wellbeing impacts of surfing.

Justine Hausheer, Science Writer for The Nature Conservancy joins us to discuss her essay 'Satellite tracking the Pacific’s most endangered leatherback turtles' which features in the new book Best Australian Science Writing 2024. We will find out about the project to tag the turtles, where they go, and the process of writing good marine science stories.
