Lots on the Marinara Lilo this week. Anth and Bron paddling around in the shallows with lots to chat about...
The Great Victorian Fish Count is 22 years old this year. And we will be joined by a secret guest that you be super surprised to hear (ok... its Marinara's very own amazing Kade Mills but he is a guest today talking about the history of, and value from, the 22 years of Fish Counting, which is coming up later in November.
Award winning film-maker Michael Dillon joins us to talk about his latest amazing doco - The Great White Whale - about the extraordinary story of the first ever successful attempt to climb Big Ben, which is a nine thousand feet high snowy volcano in some of the wildest part of the Southern Ocean, halfway between Australia and South Africa.
Rex Hunter will join us with the story of the steamer Conside wrecked on Point Lonsdale reef in September 1852, loaded with 5,000 pound in specie, along with 4,000 pound in general cargo and goods. The vessel was built at South Shields, UK in 1848 utilising a paddle steamer engine reconfigured and converted to power a propeller. Of note as the first steamer to cross the Pacific and arrive in Australia. The engine now stands as a marker for the wreck site on the southern side of Point Lonsdale reef, a great little dive site.
