Highlights
- Radio Marinara: Dr Alice Clement’s Deep Dive into Ancient Coelacanth and their Modern Mysteries
Big week this week on the show!
Kade and Anth are steering the marinara lilo with a huge show.
First up Rex Hunter found not only a wreck but someone diving with one! How old is your dive gear? 5, 10, 15 Years old? How about a diver who restored and dived with an antique diving helmet manufactured at Melbourne in 1868. Member of the Historical Diving Society of Australia, Des Williams has achieved an incredible result by going under at Portland over the King's Birthday Weekend in 2024, with his 157 year old hard hat. Find out all about this fascinating story when Rex connects us live to Des. Check out the photo!
Coelacanths are lobe finned fish that have been around for a long time, in fact for over 410 million years. In that time, they have evolved with 82 species found to date. But what drives the evolutionary process in coelacanths? And how the hell do you work this out using fossils? Alice Clement from Flinders University will join us in the studio to reveal all!
One day Richard Dumas was sitting in his office job in Sydney, and the next he was giving up his 28 year career and sailing a friend's big yacht from New England to the Caribbean and across the Atlantic to Greece. With a self-professed "some" knowledge of sailing, Richard survived this year with enough energy to write a great little book about it, called A Year on El Oro, it is a tail of fun, drama, wild weather, friendship and rigging. He joins us live on the line from southern NSW to chat about the book, and the journey.
Oh and if that wasn't enough... We will have a show full of live music from our (temporary) House band Mal Webb and Kylie Morrigan! We have it on good notice that Anth will ask to sing Waterbears and everyone else will try to make him not.
Hear you on Sunday!
