Latoya Aroha Rule is an Aboriginal & Māori, Takatāpui person residing on stolen Gadigal land, Sydney. They are undertaking their PhD at University of Technology, Sydney. Latoya speaks to Daniel about the Ban Spit Hoods Collective, who are petitioning for the immediate legislative ban on spit hoods in every state and territory following multiple reports of their use across Australia; and Shakara Liddelow-Hunt researcher and Yamatji woman, tells Daniel about the Walkern Katatdjin (Rainbow Knowledge) project, developed in response to concerns from the Aboriginal LGBTQA+ community about a lack of data on their mental health, and the fact that many do not receive the same level of social support and healthcare as others in their community.
