Dr Shane and Dr Dyani discuss New Horizons' discovery of possible ice volcanoes on Pluto, using ultrasound to deliver medication to specific parts of the brain, and whether large animals are particularly vulnerable to extinction risks.
They speak with Associate Professor Christine Erbe (Director, Centre for Marine Science and Technology at Curtin University) about the need to create noise-free zones for marine animals. They also catch up with Rebecca Johnson from Windaroo State School, winner of the Prime Minister's Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Primary Schools, and the success of her program that uses specialist science teachers. Finally, they talk with Dr Mary-Anne Lea (Senior Research Fellow & Deputy Head, Ecology & Biodiviersity Centre - Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studied in the University of Tasmania), about the Homeward Bound voyage to Antarctica, which is a leadership training program for women in science.
