Following the release of their debut album (and recent Triple R Album of the Week!) Mayawa, Ripple Effect Band are set to embark on a four date tour of Melbourne and regional Victoria thanks to ALWAYS LIVE and Bush Music Fund. This run of exclusive shows will see them take their unique interpretation of saltwater rock to stages in Main Ridge and Castlemaine on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, Geelong on Wadawurrung Country and Northcote right here in Naarm on Wurundjeri-Willam land.
Before they embark on what is sure to be a special string of events, the band will perform Live at RRR and take to the iconic Triple R Performance Space for an intimate evening of incredible live music, hosted by Vanessa Morris of Banksia. The first women from their communities to play instruments and start their own band, Ripple Effect Band sing in the languages of their people. Through the words and sounds of Ndjébbana, Burarra, Na-kara and Kune, they tell stories about their land, their language and their culture.
Ripple Effect Band have performed at festivals including Barunga, Garma, Nannup, Mona Foma, Darwin Festival and East Arnhem Live — supporting Regurgitator and WOMADelaide, selling out their own headline shows right across the country. Following the release of their stunning EP Wárrwarra and multiple singles, awards and media features, the power and beauty of their storytelling is only set to expand with the release of their debut LP.
