Ripple on the Wing is the latest album from Ella Thompson. It celebrates and represents this city's rich soul history, blending 1960s traditions with contemporary sounds. These ten tracks, co-written with Liam McGorry (Ex-Olympian) and produced with Henry Jenkins (Karate Boogaloo), feature members of Surprise Chef alongside other local luminaries.

Inspired by Australian soul pioneer Renee Geyer and The Shangri-Las, Thompson crafts cinematic music across a range of styles and stories. Each track on Ripple on the Wing establishes its own atmosphere, from the sweet soul of 'One More Step' to the playful slow dance of 'Don't Be A Taurus', all recorded live over two days at the College of Knowledge studio. There's also the lullaby-like 'Little Star', while 'Let There Be Nothing' reimagines Carmela from The Sopranos challenging the patriarchal structures around her.

The album's title comes from 'Changes', a track which explores interconnection and shared humanity. They're themes that run throughout Thompson's poetic, philosophical lyrics.
