Uncommon Sense: Dr Clem Bastow Unmasking Neurodiversity

Dr. Clem Bastow joins guest host Glen Morrow on Uncommon Sense to discuss neurodiversity, their memoir Late Bloomer, and their upcoming Clunes Booktown event, Unmasking Neurodiversity.

The talk will explore the complexities of neurodivergence, the importance of identity-first language, and the experiences of late-diagnosed autistic people.

Clem highlighted how the rise in the term neurodiversity has helped many, but also stressed the need for specificity, saying, 'It’s sometimes better to be general, and other times, it’s important to be specific.'

Diagnosed at 36, they reflected on the beauty of being autistic and are now curating a new collection of non-fiction by autistic writers, further amplifying diverse neurodivergent voices.
