The Score: Mo'Ju Pays Tribute to Beloved Musician Jack Colwell
Mo'Ju pays tribute to beloved singer-songwriter Jack Colwell, who we sadly lost one week after announcing a forthcoming album. He has been described as "an incredibly gifted, unique, and once-in-a-generation type of artist" (Mo'Ju), and who embodied "a musical spirit like no other" (Sarah Blasko).
For the last half of The Score, Mo'Ju plays the music of artists who were huge inspirations to Jack, including: Beth Gibbons, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, as well as those of his friends and collaborators: Ella Hooper, Jess Rebiero, Ryan Downey, Owen Pallett, Sarah Blasko, and more - as a way of honouring the important and meaningful relationships that he formed in his life and art.
Of Jack's music, Mo'Ju plays from Live at Golden Retriever Studios - EP, including the powerful track 'Home Again', and 'Don't Cry Those Tears' from Only When I Flooded Could I Let Go - EP, and 'I Will Not Change My Ways' from the 2020 album, SWANDREAM which music writer Father McKenzie said would one day be "given its place as one of the great Australian debut albums".
For anyone who saw him perform, they could feel the passion and rawness emanate through his music, and "everything else would cease to exist".
Vale, Jack Colwell (1989-2024).
