The International Pop Underground: LA Songwriter Kate Bollinger Recorded Her Debut LP Almost Entirely Live
After a decade of releasing singles and EPs, Kate Bollinger has finally issued her debut album. The Virginia-born, California-based songwriter's first full-length set is titled Songs From A Thousand Frames of Mind, its title suggesting the long gestation of her first LP.
"I didn't know if it was a good title, but I knew I was gonna use it anyway," Bollinger says. "It feels like it represents the album and the time I've been in in my life."
Working with producer Sam Evian, Bollinger recorded much of the album live, stripping away the overly-polished nature of her EPs and drawing on classic recording techniques.
In conversation on The International Pop Underground, Bollinger talks to Anthony Carew about her musical beginnings, making her first album, and thoughts she has in mind for her second.
