The International Pop Underground: Greek Artist ∑tella Hopes Her 'Bright' New LP Soothes People
When Stella Chronopoulou, the Athens-based producer who records as ∑tella, finished her new fifth album, Adagio, her first listen back set her hopes for the record.
"When I heard the whole thing." Chronopoulou offers, "I got a feeling at that moment."
"I'm hoping that when someone listens to this record, they're going to feel good, and they're going to feel soothed... Because when I listen to it, I feel soothed."
Having earnt the description "electro-tropicália", Adagio offers a light, summery change from ∑tella's snyth-pop sound.
In an interview on The International Pop Underground, Chronopoulou talks to Anthony Carew about her childhood growing up in Ano Glyfada, her connection to Australia, her earliest songs, and writing/singing in Greek for her new record.
