Cognitive neuropsychologist Professor Susan Rossell from Swinburne University joins the Radiotherapy team to discuss new research on the use of AI in monitoring mental health through analysing patients’ speech. Previous work by researchers has shown what speech markers are important to track when a schizophrenic patient is currently experiencing symptoms like hallucinations, and this new research examines which speak markers are associated with the likelihood to experience psychotic symptoms. They discuss how these comprehensive characterisations of speech markers related to specific symptoms of illness, will lead to a sophisticated AI tool that will help clinicians monitor their patients' illness.
