Jordan Van Den Berg (aka PurplePingers – the mastermind behind shitrentals.org) joins Spin Cycle to dive into his work on the housing crisis, rental rights being a citizen journalist.

Jordan also digs into recent appearance on The Project – where he advocated for vacant/empty homes to be repurposed by squatters and how the media can often struggle to understand and cover issues they aren’t personally impacted by.

“My theory behind it and based on [The Project’s] hosts response is that helping people like renters – that’s a part of society that society actually cares about and respects. But now we’re talking about people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity and you can tell that they thought of them as perhaps less than people and that’s why everyone’s so outraged... I’ve been wrong before but that’s why I reckon there’s been such a backlash”.
