Steph & Dan Teitelbaum chat with the Co-Artistic Directors of RISING festival, Hannah Fox & Gideon Obarzanek, about the announcement of the 2025 festival program.

From a competition to see who can do ‘nothing’ best, to a newly commissioned work from Wiradjuri artist Joel Bray – RISING will feature over 65 unique events across twelve nights.

“In this particular year we have focused quite a bit on participation… life is feeling more and more atomised, and isolation feels like more of an issue… these projects where people get out of their heads and into their bodies… is super important.”

RISING takes place from 04-15 June, 2025, and features a mix of visual, dance, theatre and musical acts.
