SmartArts: Celebrating 50 Years of Dungeons & Dragons
Professor Lisa Given from RMIT University joins Richard Watts for a chat to celebrate the 50th anniversary of influential roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons.
From its origins in dusty basements to the current era of actual play podcasts, television shows and popular YouTube channels – Dungeons & Dragons has allowed generations of young people to learn social skills and participate in collaborative storytelling in safe environments.
“it’s something about the simplicity of the game – even in our high tech world… there’s something about that notion of not needing a lot of stuff to play this game other than your imagination, a group of friends you like to hang with and that storytelling element”.
