Primal Screen: Leigh Whannell’s Wolfman (2025) – A Classic Monster, Reimagined

Filmmaker Leigh Whannell and his co-writer Corbett Tuck join Flick, Maudie, and Cerise to discuss their new horror film, Wolf Man (2025), a fresh take on the classic monster legend. Starring Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner, the film follows protagonist Blake, who returns to his regional hometown only to be attacked by a creature, leading to his harrowing transformation.

Leigh, who is known for his success with The Invisible Man (2020) and Saw (2004), brings a similar focus on psychological tension and personal struggle to Wolf Man, and shares how his fascination with horror is often interlinked with physical and emotional breakdown.

Leigh and Corbett reflect on the personal experiences and challenges that have shaped the film’s production, including getting the film to audiences through COVID, and what’s next for their filmmaking journey.
