Neon Sunset: Ben Portnoy on Solo Work, Touring Bush and Videography

Ben Portnoy of punk outfit C.O.F.F.I.N. joins Annaliese to discuss his exciting new solo project. He shares the vibrant scenes of uptown Marrickville to the rugged beauty of northern Western Australia, where he recounts experiences of eating kangaroo tail, performing on rural AFL fields, and embracing the essence of country life. As a multi-disciplinary artist, Ben discusses his diverse skills and interests in stained glass, videography, art, and craft. In a constant state of learning and expansion of his musical repertoire, he talks about transitioning from drums to guitar and bass, to record two solo singles.

“I’ve never really backed myself to do solo stuff, but it’s a good challenge and a tender outlet to pick up different instruments and put it all together.”
