Literati Glitterati: Exploring Ella Baxter’s Woo Woo
Mel Fulton is joined in studio by a Wurundjeri-based author, artist and poet Ella Baxter for a long form chat about her second novel Woo Woo. The book began life as a writing exercise based on Ella’s own experience of being stalked. Initially, a written response to her stalker, it transformed and twisted itself into a darkly funny and rich work about creating art, obsession, rage, passion and vengeance.
“I was like I may as well lean into that fury… it felt like fertile ground. As I started to write it was if my hands were possessed by a millennia of furious women and it just felt so good to get it out…and then it turned into this weird-ass novel.”
Woo Woo is out now via Allen & Unwin.
