Good Static: Jeff Mills on Transcendence, Improvisation and Tomorrow Comes The Harvest
Ahead of his upcoming tour to Australia, legendary Detroit techno producer Jeff Mills phones into Good Static to chat to Paul Gorrie about his new Afrofunk-electro-jazz ensemble, Tomorrow Comes The Harvest, originally conceived of as a project with percussionist and afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen.
After Allen's passing, Mills decided to continue the project alongside virtuoso tabla player Prabhu Edouard and keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary as a way to explore "the unknown and transcending, by the way of intersecting sound and rhythm through an array of improvisational movements".
Listen back to hear Jeff talk through the improvisational philosophy that exists at the heart of project and what he has planned for his return to Australia.
