Get Down: Dancing Like No One’s Watching With Ezra Collective

Chris Gill gets on the line with bandleader & virtuoso drummer Femi Koleoso of Mercury-Award winning British jazz quintet Ezra Collective about their latest album Dance, No One’s Watching Now.

They dig into the nuts and bolts of the new album’s conceptual feel, how making an album is less challenging than taking kids camping, and the magic and joy of how Australia does music festivals ‘right’.

“Australia gets festivals right, every festival I’ve played over there has been very special for their own unique ways and it influenced a lot of the energy we tried to get on the record – there’s something about Australia as a culture and a country and this is just as a foreigner looking in, it’s definitely got a good relationship with living in the moment and going through it… it’s very much let’s get on with it and have a good time and that ends up producing the best types of gigs as everyone’s on the same page.”
