St. Vincent joins Dylan Bird on Future Perfect to discuss her self-produced seventh album, All Born Screaming and her upcoming east coast tour.

Described as a reset, the record marks a shift from her earlier ‘shock’ approach to something more vulnerable and uplifting. “I was trying to get the sound of the inside of my head out... to speak honestly about how insane it is to be a human being on planet Earth,” she shares.

Blending art rock with synth-pop and indie elements, the album is designed as a triptych, moving from hellish chaos to gentle reprieve before culminating in an ecstatic rave. Balancing raw emotion with unpredictability, it’s her most unfiltered and dynamic work yet.

Touring has been equally unpredictable, with moments like improvising a Jakarta show without her gear. “It was all last second, but we made it fun—the essence of punk rock,” she says. As St. Vincent continues to evolve, 'All Born Screaming' cements her as an artist unafraid to confront the beauty and chaos of existence.
