Future Perfect: Celebrating storytelling with the new Children’s Laureate, Sally Rippin
Beloved author Sally Rippin (and former The Grapevine segment guest) dropped on by the Triple R studios to chat about being appointed the new Australian Children’s Laureate.
She spoke with Dylan about what the position symbolizes and the social issues she hopes to champion as an advocate for the power of reading in the lives of young Australians everywhere.
“I get to choose my mission, and I feel quite passionately about kids who struggle to learn to read, and that comes from a few different parts of my life. Most importantly, my youngest son, who's dyslexic and was later identified as being ADHD and who got through primary school without really having the reading skills he needs for life.”
