Ahead of her performance at Brunswick Ballroom and Blacktivism at Hamer Hall, the legendary Emma Donovan dropped by the studio to discuss her first solo work without The Putbacks, the powerhouse new track Blak Nation.

Emma explains the premise of song saying, “Lyrically Blak Nation is about a cultural practice called back burning, we make a cool fire to promote regrowth. The ‘cool fire’ is reference to the new generation."

Blak Nation is the first taste of Emma’s debut solo album, set for a 2024 release on Cooking Vinyl, a record that will pay homage to her family and bloodline.
