Press Colour: David Chesworth on "The Clifton Hill Community Music Centre"

Legendary multi-disciplinary musician and artist David Chesworth joins Sam to chat about the legacy of the Clifton Hill Community Music Centre, a groundbreaking venue that ran in Melbourne between 1976 and 1983.

The space existed on the margins of mainstream culture and blurred the lines between performance, music-making, filmmaking and installation art and was the first place where a lot of legendary underground Australian bands played for the first time bands including Essendon Airport and Tsk Tsk Tsk (→ ↑ →).

Listen back to dive into the history of the centre and hear some original recordings of the era ahead of an upcoming event called "We Called It New Music" featuring artists who performed at the centre at the time, alongside contemporary musicians responding to its legacy.
