The Australian Mood: Examining The Shadows With Crime & The City Solution
Simon Bonney from long-standing and influential cult Australian band Crime & The City Solution phones into The Australian Mood from Berlin to dissect the killer, the band's recently released sixth studio album, out now via Mute Records.
The two unpack the genesis of the album which initially started out as a PhD on decision making in Afghanistan in the late 80s. The project evolved into a musical project based around Bonney’s work delivering aid programmes across the Indo-Pacific region and the violence he witnessed as a result.
“There’s a veneer of normalcy and civilisation that people hold onto until they just can’t hold on anymore,” Simon says. “I’m interested in normalcy that exists within what we would consider to be extraordinary situations”.
Listen back to hear how the process of examining the darker shadows of humanity informed the writing of the killer.
