Breakfasters: Peter Greste On The New Film Based On His Incarceration

One of Australia’s most prominent journalists and foreign correspondents, Peter Greste, joins the show to chat about the new film The Correspondent based upon his incarceration inside an Egyptian prison while writing for Al Jazeera. He reflects on his years writing for established outlets like Reuters, BBC, Al Jazeera and CNN and compares the current political climate in contrast. With worries about the future, Peter emphasises how important it is to release every account and adaptation of his incarceration as both a warning and signal for the future of media.

‘When we were talking about the movie we thought ‘we gotta get this out’ because it just won’t be relevant. But now the number of journalists killed at work is at a record high, the number of journalists behind bars is also at a record high [...] it’s really worrying at the moment.’
