Breakfasters: Gina Chick on Being an Outsider with the Elements, Stories, and Love
Gina Chick is a rewilding facilitator, writer, public speaker, and was the first person to win SBS series Alone Australia, spending 67 days alone in the wilderness of lutriwita/Tasmania. She joins the Breakfasters to talk about her new memoir We Are the Stars, and shares stories of her childhood, family, loss, grief, love, and being with the elements.
Living her life as if there are lessons in any moment, she says that her learnings have come from being an outsider – both literally in the wild, and socially. From here, she can observe people, systems, and motivations. It's also from this place of solitude where "you meet the gnarliest demon you've ever met" – yourself – but also where one can have epiphanies.
