Breakfasters: Adam Elliot, Director of Memoir of a Snail (2024)
Adam Elliot is an Academy award-winning stop-motion animation filmmaker. His latest film, Memoir of a Snail (2024) has taken a decade to make and is premiering at this year's Melbourne International Film Festival's (MIFF) Opening Night Gala. He talks about the extraordinary but tedious art form of claymation, where for 1 second of animation, the animator has to move the character 25 times! In this film, every single thing that the viewer sees the film has been made without CGI (computer-generated imagery) or AI. He says that he is happiest when he is in his room with his lumps of clay and pencils.
