Astral Glamour: Billy Nicholls on the 50th anniversary of his 1970s record, Love Songs

Songwriting icon and veteran, Billy Nicholls, jumps on the line this week to discuss a range of topics but most importantly, the 50th anniversary of his 1974 record, ‘Love Songs’. Billy recounts the early years of his career working as a songwriter at Immediate Records, working with The Who and how his single ‘I Can’t Stop Loving You (Though I try)’ covered by artists like Phil Collins and Taylor Swift continues to receive praise nearly 50 years later.

Bill speaks on his record ‘Would You Believe’ and chats about navigating the modern-day music industry and how it feels recording music on tape vs digitally. Even in 2024, Billy stays full steam ahead recording and writing whenever he can.

‘I’m recording all the time. If I can get into the studio and do some more stuff, I will be putting out another album. I’ve got about 60 tracks recorded on analogue’.
