Banksia: Sage Wright and Emily Wells on YIRRAMBOI Welcoming Northern Turtle Island
Anishinaabe woman and YIRRAMBOI’s Senior Creative Producer, Sage Wright – International and Kamilaroi woman and YIRRAMBOI’s Executive Producer Emily Wells join Vanessa Morris on Banksia to discuss YIRRAMBOI’s global expansion.
Welcoming Northern Turtle Island (Canada) as YIRRAMBOI's 2025 Focus Nation, this expansion will see works from over 20 Canadian First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists featured during the festival.
They spoke about how part of this will involve the commissioning and world premiere of two major works from multi-disciplinary performer and writer, Margo Kane (pictured) , and and a film installation We are the land we walk upon from Adrian Stimson (Siksika), Frances Belle Parker (Yaegl), and Tess Allas (Wiradjuri).
Ahead of the festival, YIRRAMBOI are also hosting an immersive club night BLAX:ACT ONE through Asia TOPA on 1 March.
