Banksia: Reko Rennie on REKOSPECTIVE exhibition at the NGV
Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk about REKOSPECTIVE which showcases works created over the past two decades.
Presenting over 100 works from Reko, REKOSPECTIVE also presents a new work called Three Little Pigs which creates a statement about police brutality and deaths in custody.
Reko spoke his distinct style incorporating a bold colour palette and working with neons and metallics, the use of iconography including the Kamilaroi diamond, Aboriginal flag, a skull and crown, background in graffiti, as well as the meanings behind using large objects and different materials such as cars and marble.
