Co-artistic director and choreographer Rachael Wallis joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to discussed Gapu Ŋupan (Chasing the rainbow) which is premiering at Asia TOPA.
Rachel spoke about working alongside co-artistic director and and composer Suming Rupi, and custodian of Yolŋu cultural knowledge, Banula Marika, in the development of this production which involved visiting Tawain and North East Arhnem land to capture imagery used in the performance.
Weaving together Yolŋu songlines from North East Arnhem Land and storytelling from Paiwan and Amis artists from Taiwan, this is a rare glimpse into ancient cultures forging a future vision.
There is a community night on 27 February, as well as mob tickets available for First Nations people for all shows.
