Banksia: Artist Jarra Karalinar Steel on installation love.exe at Arts House and arts practice
Boonwurrung, Wemba Wemba and Trawoolway multidisciplinary artist Jarra Karalinar Steel joins Vanessa Morris on Banksia to discuss installation love.exe at Arts House.
Presented as part of the Bleed Biennial, Jarra discusses the installation which creates a world of digital romance, social surrogacy and immersive art, as well as an an online component where people are encouraged to read, write and submit love letters.
With love.exe based around fandom and the game Baldur’s Gate 3, Jarra spoke about her interest in games which has been incorporated in other installations such as More Than Just a Game at the How I See It exhibition (ACMI, 2022), and work with Coffinbirth and and Peter Adams through Kirrip Games.
Jarra also gave us an update on collaboration with Gammin Threads, work curating the arts trams for Rising from 2022 - 2024, and an installation opening at the National Communication Museum.
