Naarm-based Waanyi Gangaliida hip-hop artist Jamahl Yami, originally from the Gimuy (Cairns) in the naughty north, joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk about single release Blood Majik ahead of shows with Barkaa, 3% and Becca Hatch.

Released in earlier in the year, Jamahl discussed creating Blood Majik (feat. Barkaa) along with producer and drummer Kawel Che, as well as making the film clip. He reflected on how Blood Majik works to encapsulate magic created everywhere around the world before colonisation and industrialisation.

Jamahl also spoke about new music, recent shows with Kobie Dee and at Big Sound, and being part of hip-hop collective Water Streets in the years leading up to his solo project.
