Banksia: Genevieve Grieves on Garuwa and film project Motherhood in the Colony

Worimi filmmaker, and Garuwa co-Creator and Creative Director Genevieve Grieves joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk about film project Motherhood in the Colony - a powerful project created in collaboration with cultural activist, Aseel Tayah.

Motherhood in the Colony breaks barriers by facilitating an intimate cross-cultural exchange between First Nations and Palestinian women, unravelling stories of colonial trauma and emancipatory care and resistance while inviting audiences to listen, learn, and envision a future beyond the oppressive structures of the ongoing frontier.

Genevieve also spoke about First Nations storytelling agency Garuwa and work it has done across impact campaigns, music videos and a number of projects to support First Nations storytelling including the First Nations Impact Lab.
