Banksia: Ewan Sutardy Discusses Marga at Nongkrong, plus DJ Mix

Naarm-based Indonesian and Indigenous DJ Ewan Sutardy joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to discuss the opening event of Nongkrong Festival - Marga which centres the historic pre-colonial connection between Makassar and northeast Arnhem Land.

Opening the Nongkrong Festival, Marga will celebrate First Nations and Indonesian food, music and storytelling with Abdi Karya, Ewan Sutardy, Leila Gurruwiwi, Sophie McAlister and Ones. Nongkrong runs for two weeks and celebrates Australian-Indonesian culture.

Drawing from a wide spectrum of influences, Ewan also spoke about his work as a DJ which celebrates the richness of diverse cultural influences and where curated sets intend to invite community and celebration into any space.

Ewan will be performing at Marge and shared a special DJ set live to air featuring these tracks:

Yothu Yindi - Djpana (Radio Edit)

Marga takes place at the Fairfield Ampitheatre on Sunday 9 February from 2-8pm.
