Banksia: Celeste Liddle on resistance and military-industrial complex Pine Gap

Arrenrnte woman, writer, social commentator and activist Celeste Liddle joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk about being guest editor of Archer Magazine’s resistance edition and article From Pine Gap to Gaza.

Through From Pine Gap to Gaza Celeste discusses the US installation Pine Gap on Arrernte Country just south of Mparntwe (Alice Springs) which is a military industrial complex directly involved in war crimes around the globe.

In reflecting on this, the pair also spoke about the mainstream media and government's efforts to distract attention from the existance of Pine Gap, by focusing on isolating Mparntwe and creating an idea that it is the wild west of the continent.

Archer Magazine's resistance edition features contributors that share a diverse range of reflections connecting to the theme from protest movements to oppressive structures of mainstream society.
