Ilbijerri Theatre Company Creative Associate Amy Sole and Playwright Phoebe Grainer joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk all about Emu in the Sun and Ilbijerri's Blak in the Room program currently at Melbourne Theatre Company.
Written by Phoebe and directed by Amy Emu in the Sun is a story about overcoming the darkness and reminding us of what we are really made of.
Developed through the Ilbijerri's BlackWrights program Emu in the Sun is presented through Blak In the Room at MTC alongside new works Gunawarra Re-creation by Isobel Morphy-Walsh and A Wake – A Woke Mob by Maurial Spearim
Amy also spoke about three parts of a broader program including BlackStage, BlakWrights and BlackEnsemble.
Phoebe Grainer is a Kuku Djungan, Muluridji, Wakaman, Tagalaka, Kunjen, Warrgamay and Yindinji woman from Far North Queensland.
Amy Sole is a proud Wiradjuri/Worimi person.
