The Goon Sax - We're Not Talking (Chapter Music/Inertia)**album Of The Week

The Goon Sax are James Harrison, Louis Forster and Riley Jones from Brisbane, Australia, and We're Not Talking follows their acclaimed debut Up To Anything released in 2016. These new songs cross an impressive spectrum of guitar pop and rock and roll, each an eloquent expression of loving, learning, falling down, growing up and facing the future.


Allysha Joy - Arcadie:raw (Gondwana Records)

Acadie:Raw is the debut release from local singer/poet/producer Allysha Joy, also well known as a member of 30/70. This album stands at the vanguard of the local neo-soul scene, taking influence from jazz, hip-hop, funk and electronic music.


Christine And The Queens - Chris (Because Music/Caroline Australia)

Chris is the second studio album from French singer/songwriter/producer Hélöise Letissier under the Christine and the Queens moniker. Christine says: "The first album was born out of the frustration of being an aberration in society, because I was a young queer woman. [This] second was really born out of the aberration I was becoming, which was a powerful woman—being lustful and horny and sometimes angry, and craving for this will to just own everything a bit more and apologise a bit less."


Cash Savage And The Last Drinks - Good Citizens (Mistletone Records/Inertia)

Good Citizens is the fourth album from local act Cash Savage and the Last Drinks and it's out via Mistletone/Inertia. Following from 2016’s acclaimed One Of Us, Good Citizens raises the stakes and signals the ascent of Cash Savage and the Last Drinks as one of the heavy hitters of Australian music’s new era.


Tia Gostelow - Thick Skin (Lovely Records/Footstomp Music)

Mackay singer-songwriter Tia Gostelow shares her debut LP titled Thick Skin, out via Lovely Records in conjunction with Footstomp Music. Two years in production, Thick Skin reflects on Gostelow's life experiences from adolescence into adulthood. Her powerful music spans a range of guitar rock, with folk, country and pop inflections.


Mountain Man - Magic Ship (Nonesuch/Bella Union)

The second album from Vermont based three-piece Mountain Man, out via Nonesuch/Bella Union. Mountain Man are noted for their unique vocal-led approach, influenced by traditional American folk music alongside Appalachian folk - a beautiful and original combination.


Mudhoney - Digital Garbage (Sub Pop/Inertia)

Digital Garbage is the 10th album from iconic Seattle grunge-punk band Mudhoney.. The band's first album in five years coincides with the 30th anniversary of the band.


Peter Bibby - Grand Champion (Spinning Top/Positive Feedback)

Perth singer-songwriter Peter Bibby returns with his second album titled Grand Champion which is out through Spinning Top Records. Following from his 2014 debut Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician, Bibby has cultivated a sound influenced by traditional and contemporary Australian rock with an emphasis on storytelling lyrics.


The Field - Infinite Moment (Kompakt)

Infinite Moment is the sixth full-length LP from Stockholm-born now Berlin-based producer Alex Willner under The Field name, out via Kompakt. The Field is well known for his textural approach to minimalist techno and experimental electronic music.


Richard In Your Mind - Super Love Brain (Rice Is Nice)

Recorded between Sydney’s REC Studios and the band’s lush, forest-lined Blue Mountains home studio set-up, Super Love Brain is expansive, atmospheric and dynamic – a measured reaction to the physical landscape from which it was created.
