Naarm-based indie folk/pop singer-songwriter Amelia Allan shares her debut EP, featuring the lead single 'More Things'. Produced by Alex O’Gorman and mastered by Adam Dempsey, the EP captures Amelia's candid and observant songwriting style.
Born in NSW and raised in Northern Ireland, where she learned to play the drums, Amelia has always surrounded herself with music. “I have vivid memories of sitting with mum in the kitchen while she cooked and practised her vocals. She used to play these cassettes that she’d recorded her weekly singing lessons on, and I’d join her, singing along to the vocal warmups with her in the kitchen.” Amelia has since gone on to complete a Music Degree, Majoring in Songwriting, and has performed as a drummer and backing vocalist in venues across Melbourne, including The Espy, The Workers Club and The Gasometer Hotel.
Amelia's songwriting skilfully transforms everyday moments into significant stories with the EP showcasing a diverse mix of light-hearted and introspective tracks, with guitars playing a significant role in creating a cohesive sound. She shares, “These songs were written over a couple of years, during a time filled with various ups and downs. It's a collection of songs that I'm genuinely proud to share, as it captures different aspects of my creative journey. I wanted to include a mix of up-beat, light-hearted songs that showcase the funny side of my brain, along with some more intimate, raw songs born from deep heartbreak and introspection.
