Primal Screen Program Image

In memory of the iconic novelist Cormac McCarthy who passed away on Tuesday, we spotlight films adapted and inspired by his work.

Flick Ford is joined by writer and academic, Dr Julia Tulloh Harper, whose academic work focuses on masculinity and violence in Cormac McCarthy’s fiction. Her fiction and non-fiction have also appeared in a range of Australian literary journals!

They dive into John Hillcoat’s adaptation of THE ROAD, the Coen brothers' NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, 2000’s ALL PRETTY HORSES directed by Billy Bob Thornton and Ridley Scott’s crime drama THE COUNSELOR. They also discuss some of the screenplays written by the late great writer.
