A conversation with the Gunai writer Kirli Saunders, whose written works span poetry, plays, and picture books, as well as being a visual artist, cultural consultant, and the NSW 2020 Aboriginal Woman of the Year. Kirli joins Indigenuity to discuss her latest book, Returning, which captures the complex emotions that come with rediscovering oneself, Country, and connection while addressing contemporary themes of decolonisation, self-determination, First Nations’ matriarchy, queerness, justice, and truth-telling.
