Vale Ron S. Peno
We were extremely saddened to hear the news over the weekend that Ron S. Peno has died after a four and half year battle with cancer. He was most well known as the frontman of the iconic Died Pretty, and was also in many other great bands including The Superstitions, The Screaming Tribesmen, Darling Downs and more. Ron was a gifted vocalist who possessed an undeniable magnetism on and off the stage, and became a cult hero to so many music lovers, including many of us here at Triple R.
Our hearts go out to his wife Charity, son Zebadiah and all his family and friends at this time. He leaves us with a towering legacy of essential recordings that will no doubt be treasured for years to come.
You can listen back to Tim Thorpe's chat on Vital Bits with Ron, originally recorded in June 2022 here. Neil of The Australian Mood also rebroadcast a Died Pretty live acoustic performance, recorded back in 1996 on the old Triple R rooftop, which you can now listen to here.
