Our September Live at RRR Lineup!
Last month, we officially kicked off Radiothon! Our annual subscription and donation drives runs until 5pm 25 September, so there's still time to subscribe and donate to support the station. We had two great shows in the Performance Space to celebrate, and we're keen to keep the party going this September!
Live at RRR this September:
First, join us Friday 6 September for a captivating broadcast with Ziggy Ramo, hosted by Vanessa Morris of RRR's Banksia. Ramo has just released Human? A Lie That's Been Killing Us Since 1788 - a book and album amalgamation challenging Australia's national narrative through powerful music and writing.
Human? is sparking crucial conversations about Indigenous identity and historical reckoning. Hear the acclaimed artist perform tracks from the new release that asks: would you still fight for human rights if it meant giving up your privilege?
Then, on Friday 13 September prepare for an electrifying performance from Black Cab as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album Games of the XXI Olympiad. Hosted by Neil Rogers of The Australian Mood.
The Melbourne based electronic group will revisit key tracks from their 2014 album, Games of the XXI Olympiad, and take a trip back in time to the wild 1976 Montreal Summer Olympic Games.
Come along to the Triple R Performance Space this Friday 20 September for a mesmerising set from local stalwarts The Orbweavers. Hosted by Monique Sebire of Breakfasters.
Marita Dyson & Stuart Flanagan will be performing tracks from their fourth album (and recent Triple R Album of the Week,) New Moon / Silver Moon, a release that explores waterways, ecosystems and the impacts of industry, infused with personal notes from the present.
Finally, on Tuesday 24 September at 7pm, join us for a special broadcast of The Mission, live from the Triple R Performance Space, hosted by Daniel James and featuring guests Veronica Gorrie (author of award-winning memoir Black and Blue), Amanda Porter (associate professor of Criminology and Criminal Law at the University of Melbourne) and Jeremy King (principal lawyer and head of the Police Misconduct team at Robinson Gill).
They'll discuss the release of the new book When Cops Are Criminals, a powerful indictment of the criminal behaviour of police officers, and a call for institutional reform. The anthology - edited by Gorrie and featuring contributions from Porter and King - examines the widespread problem of police brutality and corruption from the perspectives of those who understand it in depth. Pulling together the accounts of survivors, campaigners, and academics, it explores different forms of criminal behaviour by police, the factors that contribute to it, the impact it has on victims, and the challenges of holding perpetrators accountable.
Following the discussion, in-person attendees can stick around for a Q&A with our guests.
Of course, the only way to attend is by being a subscriber... so get on over to that Subscribe page! Best of all, if you subscribe during Radiothon, you'll enter the draw to win some great prizes. The Subscriber giveaway to attend Ziggy Ramo is now open, with the rest to follow shortly – stay tuned to the Triple R website and socials for more details.
See you in the Triple R Performance Space soon!
